Pasko sa WECA 2010 which was held Friday, Dec 17th was a great success. Thank you all to those who attended this annual Christmas Party especially the volunteers for their time, effort and resources. May the Christmas message about peace be upon each one of us this season. The Lord did not promise a trouble free life but He is always there to give us peace.

Overwhelming Response on Sign-Up Day - Pasko sa WECA

Today is the 1st day of sign-up for the 2010 Christmas Party and twenty-five (25) individuals/ families equivalent to 104 persons have responded. Some listed dish/dessert include adobo, pansit, palabok, egado, chicken BBQ, menudo, dinakdakan, salad, macaroni salad, leche flan, and cassava cake. Thank you for your response and please continue to pray for the success of the party.

Sign-Up Sheet for the Christmas Party

A Sign-Up Sheet will be made available before and after the 9:00am and 10:45am worship services this Sunday, October 31, 2010 to allow those who are planning to attend the forthcoming Pinoys at WECA Christmas Party to book-off from work early.

Planning for Christmas Party (Potluck)

A meeting was held recently for the planning of Pinoys at WECA Christmas Party which is scheduled for Friday night, December 17, 2010. Mark that date on your calendar. Different committees were formed during the meeting that will cater the needs of the party as a whole. Committees include Food, Ushering, Table Set-Up & Decoration, Sound System, Programme, Promotion, Door Prizes, and Clean-Up. Please spread the word about the Christmas Party within the Filipino community at WECA. There will be lots of surprises during the party and of course, it will be a big salu-salo (dinner) mostly authentic Filipino cuisine.

A lunch fellowship was held at the Aquino residence on Sunday, October 10, 2010.

SeaSalt

SeaSalt was launched this year as the name of the Men's Life Group at WECA that meet every Sunday at 6pm at the church Prayer Room. Sea refers to the geographical location of the Philippines which is South East Asia, while Salt as mentioned in Matthew 5:13 , "You are the salt of the earth. . " SeaSalt compared to ordinary table salt contains more minerals and nutrients. It is produced naturally. Christians as the salt are the preservatives of this decaying world, and to add good savor by way of our own testimony.

2010 WECA Basketball Tournament

The 2010 WECA* Basketball Tournament was concluded at WECA gym, west end of Edmonton, Alberta on Thursday, August 26, 2010 with an All Star Game, 3-point shooting competition and the awarding of trophies. Refreshments were served after the game followed by the faith story of Glenn Patrick, WECA Senior Pastor and member of White Team. Navy Blue team garnered the Finals championship with Royal Blue Team and Red Team as 1st and 2nd runner-ups respectively. Dark Jersey team won the All Star Game with AC Atinaja bagging the MVP. Other individual awards went to Eric Sanggalang as the Regular Season MVP while Jhun Ramos received the Final Games MVP and the 3-Point Shootout. According to the tournament organizing committee led by Conrado 'Boots' Aspiras, WECA basketball coordinator, Jasper Pinto and AC Atinaja there will be a break for few months prior to starting the next season. 2010 Summer Picnic at Hawrelak Park

The 1st Annual Summer Picnic hosted by the Filipino community of West Edmonton Christian Assembly(WECA) was held at Hawrelak Park on Saturday, July 10, 2010 with around 100 attendees including family and friends. Glenn Patrick, WECA Senior Pastor delivered a short message about freedom which is timely on the celebration of 112th Philippine Independence from Spain (June 12, 1898). Pinoy is an informal demonym referring to the Filipino people in the Philippines as well as overseas Filipinos around the world.
