Maraming Salamat Sa Inyong Lahat

The Filipino Lunch Fundraiser was a success.  Thanks to all who volunteered their time and resources on the food preparation and food serving, the band with their music while others are listening and savoring the delicious lunch, and those who supported this cause financially.  We heard good feedback on the tasty foods. Around $4500 was collected for the lunch tickets.  Mission team leader Tim Wollin is extending his thanks and appreciation to all who contributed to this fundraiser.

Pasko sa WECA 2012

Pasko sa WECA 2012 was held last Saturday, December 15th at WECA Conference Room and was attended by approx. 120 church members and guests.  First time guests include Drs. Tim and Brenda Wollin who are leading next year's WECA Philippine mission. Pastor Randy Thompson shared a short message about hope in Christ Jesus. Master of Ceremonies were the couple Mark and Tess Yanez who did a great job on keeping people alive and enthusiastic during the entire program. Michael Bautista once again graced the occasion with his versatility in piano while AC's group, the H2O group and the ladies' group rendered their own special numbers.  Camiro Canlas, a Seasalt life group member sang his solo "Dakila Ka O Diyos".  One of the highlights was a short skit written and directed by Julius Atinaja entitled "Ang Bagong Simula ni Totoy" which is  story of a balut vendor who happened to sell his merchandize to a group of believers and had the chance to hear the story of Christmas and accepted the gift of eternal life through Jesus Christ.  WECA angels surprised the audience with a dance number of Feliz Navidad on a cha cha rhythm. A video presentation about Christmas in the Philippines which was prepared by Dr. Don Valencerina was shown during dinner.  Door prizes were given to lucky winners such as the early bird, longest married couple(39 years), and the youngest guest (13 days old).  Attendees savoured the potluck foods including Philippines' national delicacy lechon, pancit(noodles), Brod Benny Barreras' famous papaitan, ate Flor's egado, apritada, and deserts such as bibingka, puto, fruits, and more.  Pastor Denise Kroeker shared the different life groups at WECA and extended an invitation to those who are interested on joining one.  Once again, Pinoys at WECA thank everyone who joined this year especially the volunteers and WECA leadership.  Special appreciation also to Fred Mastelero who is our official photographer.  Through this annual Christmas Party, the Filipino families at WECA are brought together once a year to celebrate the birth of the Saviour and to share the Filipino culture to the diverse group of people here in Edmonton. Maligayang Pasko!
